National Operations Officer

Under the supervision of the FAO Representative in Bangladesh and under the direct supervision of International Operations Officer and in close liaison with CTAs and Administrative / Operational staff, FAO / the National Operations Officer by executing various projects of the following tasks:

  • Work with the International Operations Officer to support the day-to-day implementation of projects through various projects.
  • Support various projects within FAO Bangladesh;
  • Assist in review budgets/project documents, concept notes/project proposals and support the process of project formulation to ensure alignment with FAO procedures and policies;
  • Examination operational requests from various projects and with support from the International
  • Operations Officer, analysis and prioritize responses;
  • In line with FAO and donor reporting lines, support projects in the preparation report, delivery reports as well as final reports; Contributing to briefs and extensive reports;
  • Frequently monitor and review project budgets
  • Support field missions and other in-country missions including coordination/organizing and attending briefing and debriefing for missions; check with FAOR calendar to ensure briefing and debriefing are
  • organized in a timely manner;
  • Support International Operations Officers with efforts aimed at mobilization of donor funds (this
  • includes preparing budget summaries, liquidity estimates, payment requests and call for funds);
  • Assist in monitoring project implementation processes and liaise with various project teams to support;
  • Review implementation of major agreements (Los) and contracts and ensure an updated tracker/record iskept; liaison with finance teams for the timely release of payments/installments;
  • Provide support in planning, organizing and coordinating workshops, training, field missions and other events in various projects;


Qualifications and Experiences:

  • Timely progress reports, budgets and work plans monitoring and implemented in a timely manner;
    Up-to-date project delivery reports;
  • Financial reports and statements
  • Project documents, reports and proposals drafted in a timely manner; Projects under assignment fully
  • supported on all operational aspects; Donor and FAO reporting requirements met;
  • Meetings, workshops, missions and other related activities are well organized and supported
  • University degree in business administration, finance, social science, political science or related field
  • Minimum three years of relevant experience in project development, planning, implementation and operational support;
  • Experience in providing support for development projects; field experience and familiarity with FAO
  • Corporate systems; prior experience with FAO / other UN agencies is an added advantage;
  • Good working knowledge of English and ability to write in English and ability to communicate clearly
  • both spoken and written;
  • Ability to work with common software (including excel, word, PPT, outlook)

Language: Proficiency in English as well as Bengali

Duration: 3 months initially with possible extension
