The Canadian government has said that it would aim to take in 1.3 million immigrants in the next three years as a way to boost post-pandemic growth. As per the 2022-2024 Immigration Levels Plan, Canada will take in over 431,000 immigrations in 2022, higher than the 411,000 initially announced, and 447,055 in 2023, and 451,000 in 2024.

indians are the biggest nationality gaining permanent residency in Canada, accounting for about 40% of the total number. IN 2020, over 27,000 Indians gained entry to Canada, with over 50,000 being invited to apply for permanent resident.

Last year, the country took in 405,000 immigrants, the highest in a single year in the history of the country. The current rate of admission translates into a little over 1% of the Canadian population by 2024. Given the long term focus on economic growth, nearly 60% of the new admissions will be in the Economic Class. In a statement, the government said immigration already accounts for almost 100% of labour force growth, and with 5 million Canadians set to retire by the end of this decade, the worker to retiree ratio will drop down to only 3:1.

Canada has gradually been working to increase legal immigration into the country, creating a streamlined path to citizenship for high skilled workers and entrepreneurs.

“To ensure Canada has the workers it needs to fill critical labour market gaps and support a strong economy into the future, the 2022–2024 Immigration Levels Plan aims to continue welcoming immigrants at a rate of about 1% of Canada’s population….this plan builds on the previous levels plan, with an increased focus on supporting our economic resurgence and post-pandemic growth,” said the statement.

In a bid to boost post-pandemic growth, the Canadian government has said that it would aim to take in 1.3 million immigrants in the next three years. As per the 2022-2024 Immigration Levels Plan, Canada will take in over 431,000 immigrations in 2022, higher than the 411,000 initially announced, 447,055 in 2023 and 451,000 in 2024. According to a report, most of the immigrants in Canada have come from the economic class, of which about 60 percent are Indians. A report tabled in the Canadian Parliament earlier this week also pointed out that most immigrants to Canada still come from India.

The second-largest number of immigrants came from China. However, their number was only 16,535, while the number of NRIs is about two and a half times more,” the report said. In 2022, Canada granted permanent citizenship to 405,000 people. This was the first time Canada had granted permanent citizenship to such a large number of immigrants. Due to the shutdown of work during the Corona epidemic, 1.8 million visa/citizenship applications have been submitted to the Canadian government, which it is struggling to clear.Bangladesh Railway Job Circular 2022
