The Italian government has agreed to take agricultural workers legally from Bangladesh.
Foreign Minister AK Abdul Momen said this in a message on Monday.
During her visit to Rome this year, Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina requested the Prime Minister of Italy to include Bangladeshi agricultural workers in the Farm Workers Program, the minister said.
In this context, the Italian government gave this opportunity to Bangladesh.
He said the Italian government had earlier withdrawn the facility as Bangladeshi agricultural workers had not returned to the country in violation of the rules.
Earlier, about 18,000 Bangladeshis went to that country under an agreement between Bangladesh and Italy.
But less than 100 workers returned within the stipulated time.
Due to this, Italy closed this facility in 2012.
