The government has decided to appoint ten thousand doctors through special BCS. Health and Family Welfare Minister Mohammad Nasim said that Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina has approved the appointment of doctors on Thursday (June 22).
The minister said “10 thousand doctors will be recruited gradually through special BCS”.
The decision has been taken to ensure the health services of the grassroots people, said the minister said about seven thousand doctors have been appointed through the BCS in the last three years. Of these, six thousand physicians were recruited at the 33rd BCS and their posting was upazila level.
Doctors visiting MBBS and BDS degrees every year from around 133 medical and dental colleges, both public and private. But to get government jobs, doctors also have to take part in the BCS examinations.
According to the Bangladesh Medical and Dental Council (BMDC), the number of registered doctors in the country is 75 thousand. However, under the Department of Health, there are 22 thousand doctors in government jobs.
The government will recruit 10 thousand doctors through phase-wise special BCS. Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina gave administrative approval on June 22 (Thursday) on this issue.
Senior Information Officer of the health and family welfare ministry on Saturday (June 24th), examined Chowdhury confirmed this information.
In his message, Health Minister Mohammad Nasim said that 10 thousand doctors will be recruited gradually by special BCS. The Prime Minister has already given administrative approval in this regard. This decision has been taken to ensure proper health care of poor people of the grassroots.
During the last three years, about seven thousand doctors have been appointed through the BCS during the present government. In the 33rd BCS, six thousand doctors were recruited at their upazila level.
